What we say:

This Streamliner model is the excellent G2420T. It’s a single cutaway hollowbody with plenty of style.

This is one good looking guitar: a fantastic trapeze tailpiece sits alongside some serious-looking Broad’Tron pickups, Hump Block inlays and a fantastic Candy Apple Red finish. Gretsch guitars are as famous for their looks as they are for their sounds and this model does not let the team down!

The Broad’Tron pickups on here are a real success: these humbucking units bring width and depth to your sound whilst still retaining the all-important twang that makes Gretsch guitars sound distinct from other brands.

Another important addition is the inclusion of a genuine Bigsby B60 tremolo. These devices allow you to drop notes a little in pitch for some brilliant 50s-style special effects. The Bigsby also adds a real visual statement and sense of attitude to the instrument.

We love how playable the Streamliner range is in general: 12” radius fingerboards make playing easier and the slightly shorter scale length enhances this.

This guitar is an excellent choice for any player seeking a semi with a cool look, tons of attitude and addictive playability.

Specification

The secret to the Streamliner’s sound is a new offering from Gretsch—the Broad’Tron™ BT-2S humbucking pickup. Designed specifically for the Streamliner Collection, the high-output Broad’Tron pickup spawns improved definition with tighter bass response for robust lows, pristine highs and a throaty midrange. This sonic power is harnessed and shaped by the traditional control layout—neck and bridge pickup volume controls, a master tone control, master volume control and three-way pickup switching. A fast-playing 12”-radius laurel fingerboard with elegant pearloid Hump Block inlays and 22 medium jumbo frets sits atop the white-bound nato neck with a thin “U”-shaped profile—ideal for chord work or firing off hot-rodded riffing. Add some shimmer and expression to your playing with the Bigsby-licensed B60 vibrato tailpiece, while the Adjusto-Matic™ bridge with secured laurel base and synthetic bone nut grant amazing tuning stability.

All the classic eye-catching style you’ve come to expect from Gretsch is here—vintage-style black control knobs, enlarged F-holes for increased acoustic projection, elegant aged white binding with upgraded purfling, slick-looking nickel hardware, arched laminated maple construction and three-ply tortoise pickguard. Nearly impossible to put down once you pick it up and start playing, the G2420T is an astounding take on the classic sound and style you’ve come to expect from Gretsch.

Great product but the plastic volume buttons needed replacement for chrome which visually has made such a difference and cost £18. Grettsch could have put them on and not affected price really.
