What we say:

Wow, this is a bold looking instrument! If Prince was into metal, we reckon he’d play this!

Ibanez have always been ready to blast us with some eccentric guitars and this is a great example: the finish is called ‘Indigo Aurora Burst Flat’, which should explain it all, and the pickups (Bare Knuckle Aftermaths, no less), have an insane ‘oil slick’ look which is gleefully at odds with the entire rest of the guitar. ‘Awesome’ is the word that springs to mind first!

So this is part of the Axion Label, a sub-series of Ibanez guitars that bring edgier designs to those looking for bolder and more extravagant guitars.

One thing that’s really cool is that the sides and back of the guitar are completely different to the top! The Nyatoh body has a dark grey stain, divided by thick white binding from the purple burst top. Again, it’s a very bold look and we love it! The Purple part is sprayed over a top of Flamed Maple, adding extra dramatic flair to that quite singular burst.

Those Aftermath pickups are a perfect choice: they have great clarity and detail to match the brutality. A coil tap switch brings a little jangle with single coil tones whilst the single control knob is for volume. Funky clean rhythms and molten shred leads? No problem!

The Ibanez RGA61AL-IAF is a supremely successful example of how to take chances with style and create something memorable and new.

Plays as good as it looks, looks as good as it plays! Pictures do not do this guitar justice - it needs to be seen in person. Locking tuners, strap locks and Bareknuckles as standard - how can you go wrong?!
