What we say:

At A Glance:

A firm favourite within gigging bands for its stripped back aesthetic, the Les Paul Studio is simple and to the point.

The whole idea behind the Les Paul Studio is to keep all of the elements that make this guitar sound and feel great, while removing all unnecessary decorative elements in order to come up with a more affordable option. In other words, no binding, no figured maple top. None of which affects your playing of course!

Preferred by many, especially those with a heavier Rock persuasion, why pay more for stuff you don't need?

Features We Love:

Weight Relief Chambers

If you've ever played an older Les Paul then you'll know exactly how heavy they can be, especially over a long period of time! This model benefits from Ultra-Modern weight relief chambers making the guitar much lighter. This means that you'll be holding it up no problem for those three hour Wembly sets (or just in your bedroom).

Slim Taper Neck Profile

The neck profile of a guitar is greatly important to how it feels when playing. The Slim Taper shape on this model offers comfort for the player and gives access to the higher frets allowing you to reach all the way to the top of the fretboard when you're rocking out! However, this is a Gibson after all, although named 'Slim Taper' there is still plenty to grab on to.

Pickups

Sounding pretty hot, the 490R and 498T pickups are often found on Les Paul Customs. They sound large, powerful and full of energy! You also have the option of thinning them out using the push/pull coil taps found in the volume knobs to achieve more of a P-90 sound, should you be that way inclined.

Highlights:

  • Weight relief chambers make this model much easier on the shoulder
  • 'Slim Taper' neck profile offers comfort all across the fretboard
  • Pickups offer hot, powerful tones

Fantastic option if you can't afford a full on Gibson Les Paul. The studio lacks a few of the cosmetic features such as binding. But its lacking absolutely nothing else. It plays beautifully with great tone and lots of tone options due to coil splitting. Simply can't put it down.

Setup was excellent. This is my first Les Paul and it played brilliantly from the off. Coil tap is a nice touch and tone is awesome. Finish was darker than expected but really works with the black scratch plate. Gig case was superb - extremely well made, sturdy and smart.

The build quality is incredible and much better than expected. I was half expecting it feel mass produced, but it didn't and continues to thrill me every time I play it to this day

Thomas G. - 19/5/2021

The guitar is a fantastic Les Paul. I like the striped back look no binding no frills but a lovely finish and great Gibson sound. The neck is very comfortable and I have smallish hands. The weight relief is good but this is still a chunky guitar. Love it.

Great finish to the guitar. Plays really nicely: great action and fantastic sustain. Hot pickups! Very pleased with it

Ian B. - 14/12/2020

A late starter to playing guitar (7 months) and was playing a Gretsch Streamliner, which I was finding a bit big. I know that I wanted to play s Gibson Les Paul but was a little unsure about jumping straight to a 50s or 60s. The studio was my little compromise whilst my playing gains experience. The studio was a great price point and playsclije a dream.

It's a beautiful Gibson LP. What's not to like. Finish is a bit darker on mine than in the photos, but still looks and sounds stunning. Setup needed a little work, but quickly done.

Miles W. - 12/8/2020

Beautiful to look at, beautiful to play. Wish I'd bought one years ago.

john s. - 2/8/2020

Gibson back on their game, I tried a les paul studio back in the early 2000's it was poor. This new model is everything you expect a Les Paul to be
