What we say:

At A Glance:

The Academy 12 brings Taylor's Grand Concert body shape to the Academy series. Designed with the new player in mind, with a slightly shorter scale length to make fretting notes and chords that little bit easier.

Features We Love:

Comfortable, Beveled Armrest

The guitar has a beveled armrest for added comfort. This feature is usually reserved for the absolute top-end Taylor guitars. It’s a refreshing and bold move to include it on such an affordable model!

Quality, Affordable Materials

The 12 is made with a solid Sitka Spruce soundboard and an Ebony fingerboard. Taylor have ensured that the most important elements to playing - sound, feel and comfort - are the number one priority. It's impressive to see Taylor maintain this level of quality while being affordable, Sitka spruce and Ebony is the same timber used throughout their range all the way up to the top.

Who Is It For?

Those looking for a quality acoustic at an affordable price. The Grand Concert shape makes it great for lighter playing styles that require more detail, combined with the arm contour it's great for those long songwriting sessions. This would be an excellent workhorse guitar for any musician, new or experienced.

Highlights:

  • Comfortable to play thanks to the beveled armrest
  • Fantastic value without compromising on quality
  • Very easy to play with its slightly shorter scale length

Customer reviews

Overall Rating 5/5 (8 reviews)

Comfortable, good price and the perfect size for me (small hands!).

Libby W. - 12/3/2023

Great guitar, easy to play and a great bit of kit

david s. - 26/1/2023

Peter E. - 7/9/2022

Sounds lovely and supposed to be best for learning - early days yet and fingers sore.

calum c. - 4/2/2022

Nick R. - 3/1/2022

Exactly what is was wanting. Beautiful sounding and looking pure acoustic. Balance, size and weight make it easy to play, important to a relative beginner.

Mike L. - 26/9/2021

Very comfortable to play especially since learning. Particularly like the shaved off section which avoids your right arm not leaning on a sharp corner when strumming

Gillian W. - 5/8/2021

It's a beautiful guitar, light and comfortable but with fantastic resonance and a really lovely neck.
