What we say:

At A Glance

This Gretsch G2220 Electromatic Junior Jet Short Scale Bass II finished in Tobacco Sunburst offers huge amounts of retro charm. With its shorter 30.3" scale and unique single-cutaway design, the Junior Jet II is extremely comfortable to play and its pair of single coils give it a punchy tone that works well on retro music, indie, and rock n roll. It's a stylish no-nonsense bass that would be ideal for beginners or experienced players looking for a vintage-style bass.

Features We Love:

Short Scale

The 30.3" scale length reduces the distance between each fret, making it ideal for beginners or those with smaller hands. The shorter scale also has a natural effect on the guitar's tone, giving a thicker boomy sound, similar to Paul McCartney's tone in The Beatles.

Gretsch Single Coils

The pair of single-coils give the guitar a wide range of excellent sounds, whether you're a finger player or a heavy-handed picker, you're going to find a tone you love in this guitar.

Vintage Aesthetic

It's a new guitar, but every detail of this bass suggests that it's a vintage pawnshop find, from the subtle colour choice and body shape to the punchy tone from the single-coils, we just love the gorgeous level of style!

Who Is It For?

As mentioned above, the smaller scale is well suited to smaller hands or those after a more compact bass. It will sound especially good in indie, rock, and punk styles thanks to the pickups.

Highlights:

  • Easy to play
  • Plenty of retro style
  • Gretsch quality throughout

Customer reviews

Overall Rating 5/5 (4 reviews)

This is a well made short scale bass. It is a very comfortable guitar to play an sounds very good. Initially I was thinking of swapping the top string for one which is slightly thicker but I have decided to leave it as it gives a different feel to the 1983 Fender Bullet - another short scale bass - that I have been using up to now. I would definitely recommend trying this guitar to anyone looking for a short scale bass.

This Short Scale Bass is nothing short of amazing. It has a rich tone and a solid feel of a very professional instrument. I wasn't familiar with this model but after playing it once, I kept coming back to it. Some short scale basses sound a bit weak on the low E string. Not so with this one. The tone is really beautiful across the whole neck. This is my new favourite bass. I highly recommend it!!!!
