What we say:

At A Glance

The Contender HB is a unique single cut style guitar from Reverend that delivers great tones, easy playability and a number of interesting features. The twin humbuckers give this instrument a modern flavour while maintaining a classic sound. One unique feature of this model is the strategically placed chamber which is concealed under the pickguard. Increasing resonance while also reducing weight, it is a nice touch. The usual high quality is present with Reverend's great construction and attention to detail, plus the Pin-Lock tuners and Boneite nut add to the overall functionality. A great choice if you are looking for a unique take on an old classic.

Features We Love:

HA5 Pickups

The HA5 set are traditional style humbuckers but are wound with a slightly hotter output to fit the needs of modern players. The bridge pickup delivers plenty of bite when needed but is versatile enough for it to sound delicate too. The pair sound warm and open, plus they compliment each other beautifully.

Treble Bleed Circuit

Many players opt for a simple set-up on stage - plug your guitar into an amp and you are good to go. This approach often means using your guitar volume control for any changes, rolling it back to clean up your tone a bit. The Treble Bleed Circuit allows you to roll back without sacrificing those upper frequencies which can often be the case with other volume pots. Now you can turn it down without reducing the quality of your tone.

Custom Dome Knobs

So you choose a guitar like this for the Tune-O-Matic bridge with Stop Tail since it will give you a solid base for all your hard strumming. With that aggressive attack can come accidental pot collisions resulting in unwanted tone or volume shifts. These Custom Done Knobs have been made with a lower profile so you are less likely to end up in this situation while being lost in the moment on stage. The white dot on top of the pot is another great design choice as you can tell at a glance where you are set to.

  • An abundance of tones available due to the pickups and the bass contour
  • A unique take on a classic look
  • Perfect for the working guitarist who needs a reliable instrument
