What we say:

At A Glance:

The PRS SE Custom 24 delivers quality and affordability in a concise package. Drawing heavily from its big brother's concept, the SE version of the Custom 24 still retains its ability to deliver high performance and reliability.

The SE range has brought a durable workhorse of an instrument to stages across the world. This model showcases a laminate flame top accented by the Black Gold Sunburst finish. The thick maple cap under the veneer gives you the same sonic benefits whilst retaining its affordable nature. Proudly wearing its bird inlays, The SE Custom 24 has had to earn the right to be branded by Paul Reed Smith. Not sacrificing versatility, the 85/15 S pickups are a new, improved version of the pickups that helped get PRS of the starting line. Further adding to the adaptability of the 85/15 S pickups is their ability to be split.

Overall, the SE Custom 24 is a serious piece of equipment that is made to be played.

Features We Love:

85/15 S Pickups

The first two numbers of the pickups name indicate the year that the original pickup came out. The last two digits denote what year that pickup design was reissued with modern enhancements. The pickups mounted in this guitar are based on the pickups loaded in the first PRS guitars. The earlier pickups' tolerance variations have been shrunk to unnoticeable differences in sonic output by utilising new computer programmable machinery. PRS aim to keep improving their innovations as new technology develops.

Wide Thin Neck

The neck is where most of the playability of the guitar is decided. PRS have thought meticulously about the shape and feel of the necks they offer. This guitar sports a Wide Thin neck. This neck gives you a thin profile with a wide fretboard, a combination championed by fast players. The maple neck is given a gloss finish and is capped with a rosewood fretboard.

Coil Split

The push/pull coil split is located within the tone control. The added function allows you to split both humbuckers resulting in six different tonal possibilities. If you are looking for an instrument that sounds good in almost any musical scenario, this wiring mod should be a welcome sight. Not compromising tone, the pickups have been crafted for optimum sound in both standard and split positions.

Highlights:

  • Coil splittable 85/15 S pickups for versatile tonal output
  • Thick maple cap with flame maple veneer gives you the sonic and visual benefits at a more affordable price.
  • PRS designed hardware makes for a reliable instrument.

Customer reviews

Overall Rating 5/5 (1 reviews)

Easiest guitar to play I have ever owned - the neck is perfect for my hand and the action is slick and fast. The range of tones it can produce is amazing - much wider than my Les Paul or Strat. I have not owned a PRS before and I'm delighted with my choice.
