What we say:

At A Glance:

The EastCoast ST1 is EastCoast's superb version of the classic S-style, 3x singlecoil, bolt on neck electric guitar. This style of guitar has a legacy going all the way back to the 1950's and has made appearances for every style of music from country to blues to rock and metal.

The EastCoast ST1 features a lightweight Poplar body, making it great for those days and nights when you just don't want to put it down. The 3 singlecoil pickups offer a wide array of sounds with that classic bright twang and bite this kind of guitar is known for, and the reliable 6-saddle tremolo really lets you go to town throwing all the wobbles and dives you want at your playing.

Features We Love:

Poplar Body

As a body wood, Poplar is tonally similar to Alder, the classic body wood for an S type guitar, with the added bonus of being very lightweight!

Pickups

Rigged with a trio of singlecoil pickups and a 5 way switch, this is a guitar with a classic array of tones to hand. Each pickup brings its own distinct tone, with the in-between positions (2 and 4) offering a completely different but instantly recognisable set of sounds.

Tremolo System

From Hank Marvin to Eddie Van Halen, what guitarist doesn’t love to use and abuse a whammy bar? With tasteful vibratos, flutters and divebombs at your fingers, this guitar’s tremolo system could become a key part of your own signature sound.

Highlights:

  • Classic looks and style
  • Classic, powerful and versatile sound
  • 3 High quality Pickups
  • Lightweight Poplar Body
  • Reliable 6-saddle Tremolo Bridge

Firstly, top marks to GuitarGuitar for their excellent customer service. I ordered my guitar at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday and the Courier was pressing my buzzer at 8:30 a.m. Sunday to deliver it. I have always wanted a pink S style guitar, I just think it’s a really cool colour but I don’t have the budget or talent to buy one of the limited edition models on the market. I had never heard of Eastcoast guitars before so did some research online and found that they are quite well regarded amongst the entry level instruments so I took the plunge. My guitar was well packed (double boxed) with no loose of missing parts and was very well set up, no need to adjust the action, it was pretty much spot on and no sharp frets either. The finish is even with no drips or runs and looks fantastic and a 3 ply pick guard at this price is a real bonus. I doubt the fingerboard is Rosewood, research suggests it might be a wood called Purpleheart but it looks nice enough, time will tell as to its durability. The body also has a bit of heft to it compared to some other entry level S style guitars that have really thin bodies. Don’t be put off though if you are small or a youngster, it isn’t heavy, it just feels solid like it should. Sound wise, it’s an S style guitar so you know what to expect. Plugged into my Fender Frontman 15 watt amp and with my little effects console I can get all the sound I want from it and have lots of fun. At the price, this guitar is definitely worth considering.
