What we say:

At A Glance:

The Cort G290 Fat II in Trans Black Burst builds on the success of its predecessor by offering even more top notch specs. New additions include the roasted maple neck and fingerboard and an alder body, all of which are great choices. A Graph Tech TUSQ nut keeps the tone and playability to a high level. Thankfully Cort have kept some of the much loved features from the previous version, so you still get the super comfortable Ergo-V neck profile, compound radius and locking tuners. If you care about performance and style then the G290 Fat II is well worth your consideration.

Features We Love:

Roasted Maple Neck & Fingerboard

If you want a premium playing experience and to reap the benefits of a more stable construction then this is the way to go. The roasted maple neck and fingerboard also look stunning with their caramel-style colouring and being more resilient to changes in humidity make it an excellent choice for the touring musician.

Luminlay Side Dots

Further enhancing the stage-ready capabilities of the G290 Fat II, the Luminlay side dots are your new best friend in low light environments. Want to make sure that you nail that atmospheric intro before the stage lights and full band kick in? These will let you see your fret position in the dark and they look pretty darn cool too!

Plenty of Sound Options

While the G290 Fat II leans more towards those who play modern and heavier styles of music, the Voice Tone VTH-77 pickups have a lot of dynamic range and are far from being a one trick pony. Proof of this is the 5 Way Switch which gives access to the Custom Wired Electronics. Positions 2 and 4 offer up clear and authentic single-coil sounds for a tonal range that can cover almost anything.

Highlights:

  • Contemporary style and packed with high-end specs
  • Excellent for heavy styles of music but can easily do much more
  • Equally good for both lead and rhythm playing

Customer reviews

Overall Rating 5/5 (2 reviews)

I just love it. Looks great, sounds even better. My first guitar that is slightly more expensive, so can't compare with really "pro" guitars, but it is nice. Locking tuners, nice tremolo. Stays in tune for quite some time too. No ringing on the frets. The neck is just fabulous, never played something that nice ( it was always laquer/paint finish before, this is just something else!)

Had been looking for a strat style guitar for a while. Decided on this one due to the spec, reviews and the fact it was on sale. Really nice looking guitar, comfortable to play with the neck being the best part. Very happy with my purchase ??
