Customer reviews

Overall Rating 5/5 (1 reviews)

This is a great guitar. The price charged was really good and the service from GuitarGuitar was excellent. This is not the first guitar I have bought from GuitarGuitar and, because of the service that I have received, I would recommend them to anyone who needs a new guitar. I have seen a few negative reviews of the Epiphone Firebird. Some of these were clearly from buyers who based their expectations on a guitar that cost £5k or more. The others obviously received one that needed setting up. Mine arrived playable so I have been enjoying it. There is nothing wrong with the action or the intonation but I will eventually spend some time tweaking it when I replace the strings with one of my preferred sets. Personally, I expect to setup a guitar when I buy a new one because I know what I want and it is unrealistic to expect a guitar to be perfectly setup for me if I have not provided very specific instructions on my requirements. The balance of the Firebird is really good and the neck has a nice feel it is not excessively slim having enough depth to get hold of without being difficult to navigate. The pickups have a nice depth at the bottom end with some real bite especially when the bridge is selected on its own. The spec suggests that they are modelled on the original Firebird pickups which were mini humbuckers with a bar magnet. They definitely have more clarity and top end than standard humbuckers but I cannot comment on how they compare to "standard|" mini humbuckers. The overall quality of the finish is very good and the red finish with gold pickups, bridge and tuners gives a really high end look that is more impressive than some guitars I have seen that cost far more. I am really pleased with this guitar, it has exceeded my expectations and I would recommend it to anyone looking at "budget" odd shaped Gibson style guitar.
