PRS give their excellent USA Bolt-On CE model a distinctly beautiful finish for this very limited run of guitars.
PRS’s CE (Classic Electric) takes the shape of their Custom 24 but swaps out the set neck for a bolted-on maple neck. This structural difference plays a significant part on the character of the sound: you can get a much snappier, choppy attack with an entirely different kind of response. Whether in humbucking mode with the formidable, vintage-voiced 85/15 pickups or in the slinkier coil-tapped single coil mode, the bolted neck gives an altogether different presence.
This neck is carved in a Pattern Thin profile, a PRS mainstay for 24 fret necks for a few years now. It’s a super comfortable shape that isn’t too skinny and has a satin nitrocellulose finish to a proper vintage feel.
The Birds are here as is PRS's excellently designed tremolo bridge: without having to lock down the strings, you will be able to perform most whammy techniques with no tuning problems at all.
This guitar has a limited edition figured maple top in a wonderful Faded Grey Cherry Burst finish. This is one of our favourite PRS finishes because it is impressive and subtle at the same time. Wonderful!
These versatile guitars should not be seen as ‘little brothers’ to the set neck Custom 24s etc: rather, they are their own animal with their own distinctly brilliant sound. If you love PRS's but require more snap and chime to your single coil tones, this CE24 may be the perfect instrument for you!
