The Fender VI was released in 1961 and followed the concept of the Danelectro six-string bass released in 1956, having six strings tuned E to E, an octave below the Spanish guitar. The Bass VI was closely related to the Fender Jaguar, with which it shared styling and technical details, notably the Fender floating tremolo. The VI had an offset body similar but not identical to that of the Jazzmaster/Jaguar.

Condition Report

This Fender Bass VI dates back to 1967 and shows all the wear you'd expect from an instrument that's clearly seen significant use over the entirety of its life.

The bass shows plenty of chips and dings all over, which are most prominent on the top bout, sides and rear of the body.

Much of this has broken through the finish to the wood underneath as the nitrocellulose finish is very thin and shows heavy checking all over, while the hardware has also tarnished to varying levels.

The frets are flattened but show only minimal pitting and have plenty of life left in them yet.

There has been a replacement machine head on the high E string position and the strap pins have been replaced with Schaller-style ones compatible with their strap locks, otherwise this bass is entirely original including all other hardware, pickups and wiring with the pots themselves dating back to 1966!

This bass comes complete with tremolo arm in a non-original padded gig-bag and has been restrung with D'Addario XL156 24-84 Bass VI string set.
