Schecter Guitars are a large guitar brand from Van Nuys, California. Schecter Guitar Research started in 1976 as a small boutique custom shop, where David Schecter hand-built replacement parts before moving on to fully assembled guitars in 1979. Nowadays, most Schecter guitars are from their Diamond Series, which are made outside the USA. Schecter appeals to rock, goth and metal guitarists with their distinctive guitar shapes, finishes and decorative work. They are known for making high quality instruments and are used by a large number of professional players, mostly in the hard rock scene.
