What we say:

At A Glance:

The Fender Player Lead Series was first introduced in 1979 as a response to the rise in low-priced import guitars of the time. The result was an ergonomic guitar with a bold design which went on to become a cult classic. This reissue is a tribute to the original 1982-only model, featuring a set of hot humbucking pickups with coil-splitting, a modern "C" neck profile and medium-jumbo frets. It's a stylish and unique Fender that will suit most styles of music.

Features We Love:

Player Series Alnico II Humbuckers

The Fender Player Series Alnico II Humbuckers pair perfectly with the guitar's alder body, giving a bright tone with great depth. Their hot output makes them suitable for a wide range of music, from indie, to punk and even metal.

Coil-Splitting

While humbuckers certainly have their moment, they do lack that traditional Fender sound, this guitar solves this by bringing coil-splitting into the mix. This essentially turns each of the humbuckers into single-coil pickups at the flick of a switch, with all of that signature chime you'd expect from a Fender guitar.

Hardtail Body

The hardtail strung through design continues this guitar's ergonomic design. Not only does it offer great comfort when palm muting and improved tuning stability, it also runs the string resonance directly into the body of the guitar, giving this Fender an impressive sustain.

Pros:

  • Coil-splitting offers a wide range of tonal options
  • Hardtail bridge gives the guitar improved tuning stability and great sustain
