About D'Angelico
D'Angelico guitars was founded first in 1932 by luthier John D'Angelico in Manhattan, New York. The early days of D'Angelico saw the guitars become very sought after thanks to the high performance of each instrument. The company remained small with only 2 additional employees and focused on providing high quality hand made guitars at a competitive price against mass-produced guitars from larger brands. John D'angelico continued building guitars until his passing in 1964 at which point the name slowly died down.
However a revival began in 1999 with new owners who were committed to the brand, the designs, and John D'Angelico's legacy. Today D'Angelico offers a wide range of guitars that have been revived and given a modern touch while maintaining their vintage "New York" aesthetic. Signature features such as the stairstep tailpiece and tuners as well as the ornate headstock are still extensively used on modern D'Angelico guitars and maintain the iconic looks of the instruments. Now featuring modern high quality hardware from brands such as Grover, Seymour Duncan, and more.
