D'Angelico are named after their founder, the famous and revered John D'Angelico from Little Italy, New York. He was manufacturing hand-made guitars there back in the 1930s.
D'Angelico sometimes use a variety of scale lengths but they often use the unusual 25" scale length, the same as PRS. It is right in-between the Gibson and Fender scale lengths.
