Meet the Artist
Bas Schouten is one of the Netherlands' most sought-after session guitarists. He has performed alongside many of the country's leading artists and is currently the lead acoustic guitarist for Dutch pop sensation Suzan & Freek.
In May 2026, he performed a historic run of 10 stadium shows in a single month, playing to more than 400,000 people, making it the highest-attended stadium concert series in Dutch history.
Alongside his pop career, Bas developed a deep passion for folk and contemporary bluegrass music. His fascination with these styles shaped his distinctive approach to the acoustic guitar, blending traditional flatpicking techniques with the sound and feel of modern pop music.

During this masterclass, Bas will share his unique approach to acoustic guitar, focusing on flatpicking as his go-to playing technique. Bas will be also demonstrating how other bluegrass-inspired techniques can be seamlessly combined with contemporary pop playing through practical examples, performance insights and hands-on demonstrations. This will be a fantastic opportunity to learn some intricate tricks up close.
