What we say:

Takamine are a very familiar brand to music fans: constantly seen in the overwhelmingly public hands of artists like Bruce Springsteen, Jon Bon Jovi, The Eagles and Garth Brooks. World class professionals choose Takamine, a brand that has grown from a small shop at the foot of Mt Takamine in Japan in 1959 to their status today as one of the world’s biggest acoustic guitar brands.

Beautifully bound to set of the delicious Koa top, back and sides, this EF508KC is a marvellous example of Takamine's craft. This body size - a slightly shrunken jumbo - is a real trademark of Takamine and this example, made with solid Koa for the top, back and sides, is uniformly excellent.

Koa is found in only one place in the world: the Hawaiian Islands. Koa is similar in tone to Mahogany and figured examples like this make for stunning looking guitars! The binding of this EF508KC extends to the fretboard and headstock to give an upmarket and refined appearance.

Sonically, this guitar is a perfect match of shape, wood and bracing: there is plenty of size to move air and create some real volume and projection. The Koa provides a voice with a solid foundation and strength, topped with just a little sparkle to complement the warmth. Players of most genres will be at home here: Koa is a great fingerpicker's wood and the body size lends itself to strumming so songwriters are spoiled here!

pro series Takamines are always a good buy. This guitar played really well in the shop and now, after a little breaking in, plays like a dream. .......helped by 10 minutes with a couple of fret files and an application of lemon oil. A Koa laminated top is always going to sound a bit brighter and not as loud as a good spruce dreadnought, but I'm running it through a Fishman Aura preamp, and then into a H and K Era 1 acoustic amp......so i can tweak for whatever tones I want to have. A great gigging guitar.
