What we say:

At A Glance

Epiphone are known for making great value Les Pauls and revered archtop jazz guitars. What is less well known is that they have actually been respected banjo makers for around 100 years. The MB100 is an open back banjo, meaning there is no resonator. This means it's a whole lot lighter, both in physical weight and in sound. It sounds a lot softer overall which means that it's great for not only beginners and travelling musicians but also existing banjo players who'd like to add another sound to their existing armoury.

Features We Love:

Lightweight

The open back construction makes this banjo incredibly portable but it is also a great choice for any player who has long sets to get through. Because it isn't a burden on the shoulder you can happily play for hours at a time without any discomfort.

Remo Head

Remo are well known for producing heads for a range of instruments and have been doing so for over 60 years. Their banjo heads offer great reliability and a full yet balanced tone. Perfect for all of your picking and rolling needs.

Mahogany Body and Neck

Being a classic choice for many acoustic instruments, the mahogany wood adds character and personality to the sound of the MB100. It is also a very durable wood so a busy practice and performance schedule won't cause any problems here.

Highlights:

  • A comfortable and lightweight instrument
  • Perfect for those on the move
  • Classic Banjo sounds but with a softer tone

Exactly what I was looking for to learn on

Scott M. - 17/1/2022

Instrument was for a complete beginner and was perfect for the job

William C. - 30/11/2019

Very good

J.N. - 26/5/2015

Brilliant, quick delivery

H.C. - 15/1/2013

For a lower-end banjo, the Epiphone is a very nice instrument. I played 5 of 6 instruments in that class, but none had the quality and ease of playing that the Epiphone has.
