What we say:
Since 1976, Schecter guitars have carved a unique and highly revered path through the world of original guitar design. No mere copyists, Schecter are known for some truly outlandish designs but are equally well known for their high quality control and rock 'n' roll attitude. For those players who are a little wearied with the usual models on offer, dive into the world of Schecter guitars and discover a treasure trove of original thinking mixed with some of the best hardware and construction available. Their designs fit every pocket, too: A-list rock stare go out on stage with these guitars and so can you.
Schecter’s Hellraiser collection brings together a large selection of guitar shapes and decks them out with active EMG pickups and a Gothic looking cross inlay to really sell an atmospheric look to match the, quite frankly, stupendously heavy sounds that can come out of these beasts! This model actually goes further with an Ebony fretboard and carbon fibre binding!
Schecter raise hell with their perennially popular C-7 7 string. The C-7 is something of a hybrid design in that it has a familiar S-type silhouette but the chunky mahogany body, set neck and double humbuckers of classic single-cut guitars. In all honesty it's pretty much it's own beast: the girth of the mahogany gives a thick, chewy midrange whilst the super-flat fingerboard and slim neck make playing tight rhythms and complex leads easy and fun!
Sonically, those EMG's have a lot of authority. These are newer, brushed metal-covered units: a 57 in the bridge and a 66 in the neck. They have a sound that mixes the well-known heat and attack of an EMG 81 with a slightly rounder, more PAF-like tone. Hats off to EMG for developing these, it's a great blend!
It's clear that this guitar was built for riffing and it frankly excels at this! This is a rugged, well-appointed piece of guitar with a lot of finesse and quality that will take the rigours of the road in it's stride.
