Manufacturer's ID: IP-IRIG-ACOUSTIC-IN

iRig Acoustic is the first acoustic guitar interface for mobile devices. It's a microphone that easily clips onto the rim of any acoustic guitar (and many other instruments with similar sound holes, like ukuleles).

Specification

The extremely compact design has been achieved thanks to the use of a high-quality MEMS microphone. Its omnidirectional polar pattern, low noise circuitry and extended low-frequency response let you obtain professional recordings anytime and anywhere. iRig Acoustic can be plugged into your device with a standard 1/8" TRRS cable and it is possible to monitor the performance thanks to the socket placed on the in-line cable. To protect the guitar from scratches and marks, the body of iRig Acoustic is made of soft rubber material. A carrying case is included in the package.

It's a great unit but couple of things to be aware of. The irig clips into the sound hole of the instrument. It fitted my Martin but would not fit my Guild acoustic as the wood was to thick. The irig can't be adjusted for this. I have also find that the iRig works best with the Amplitude acoustic app. It does not sound very good going into apple GarageBand. You can buy extras features to record in the amplitude app but I have found these to be expensive. I have found using the AudioBus app to route the amplitude app into GarageBand to be the best way round this. Apart from these 2 small issues I have found the irig to be well and the sound quality it records with the app is amazing for the price.
