Great bass for my home studio needs. Sounds good with P & J pickups either separately or mixed. Action was a tad high but controls and switches were all crackle free and no buzzing either. Overall finish was very impressive, too. For the money it's an excellent instrument..

Okay. I'm a complete beginner, so I wanted to buy a good quality, simple bass guitar at a reasonable price. I can tick all three boxes on that. Overall the bass is well constructed and has a quality feel to it (apart from the volume and tone knobs, which feel a little cheap). There was no adjustment needed to the truss and the string heights were spot on, so only a bit of tuning up before being able to start playing. The bass feels really comfortable and the shape of the body means that it sits nicely, and the lower frets can be reached easily thanks to the deep cut-away. Although I'm still trying to work out the volume sweet-spot between the P and J pick-ups, the sound quality is very good (I'm playing through a Fender Rumble 25). I'm really pleased with this purchase and, if you're looking for a great starter bass, I would recommend this one.

I went to epsom guitarguitar to check out short scale bass guitars,as I have several epiphone les paul guitars, and fancied a bass .Marlowe offered to help, and showed me some short scale basses , then a full size cort action pj bass in walnut colour was brought out ,Marlowe said sorry that is not a short scale, but I said can I have a look, and decided I really liked it and it felt right so no more questions I just brought it thank you Marlowe for your very helpful input and advice. Lovely bass, great sound. Very dark for walnut (almost black) but will wear nicely and daughter loves it so happy!!!

First bass guitar. Came with everything needed to get set up and playing in a few mins (this comes with a LOT of cardboard packaging in two big boxes so you may need help unpacking it). Nice guitar. Not all that heavy. 3 control dials (plastic) for the pickups. Plastic nut. The picture online shows a more dark brown / wood body colour. The guitar I received is black (or very, very dark brown !) still looks really good though. Strings go through the bridge and not the body. Strings good quality. Nice, clear sound from them. Some ‘fret clatter’ when playing - but that might be just to not being an experienced bass player (I’ve played electric and acoustic for a long time). Adjusting the way you pick / finger the strings eliminates the clatter quite easily. Body finish is average. Doesn’t have the ‘gloss’ finish that you would expect. Some of the edges around the cut out a the back of the guitar are a little rough - but for the price nothing to moan about. Sound quality and playability - brilliant. Love playing it. Easy to fret and the pick-up controls do make a difference to how it sounds.
