What we say:

At A Glance

The Gibson Custom Shop 1958 Les Paul Standard Reissue VOS Lemon Burst has everything we could hope for in a Les Paul Standard. Thanks to decades of work carried out by Gibson's Custom Shop experts, it is possible to have this incredibly accurate recreation and enjoy it to its fullest! By using historic construction methods and keeping things as close to the originals as possible, you'd be hard pressed to tell it apart from a genuine vintage model!

Features We Love:

Highly Accurate

Gibson Custom Shop have pulled out all the stops to make this guitar as close to the original as possible. From the Historic Gibson Narrow/Tall frets to the round, Chunky C neck profile, this is likely as close to a vintage 1958 Standard as you'll get!

Custombucker Alnico III Pickups

Gibson have not stopped at the aesthetics but have made sure that the pickups here also perform to the same high standard as the guitar itself. Taking influence from PAF tones, they offer a warm, well balanced and full sound. This means they handle clean tones just as well as when you apply some gain.

Gibson Custom Shop Quality

Some of the best luthiers in the business build each of these guitars with as much passion and attention to detail as any other. These are some of the best guitars made in the world, with an exceptionally built instrument allowing the player to realise their full potential.

Who Is It For?

If you've always dreamed about owning a vintage 1958 Les Paul but it sadly can't be a reality, this guitar allows you to get as close to the real deal as possible.

Customer reviews

Overall Rating 5/5 (8 reviews)

This is a great les Paul. I’ve got a 50s standard and 54 goldtop custom shop reissue with p90s and this is the best. It’s very resonant, the neck profile is slimmer than the 50s standard and hence a lot easier to access past the 19th. The neck pickup on this 58 is really spanky / percussive (jimmy page at madison square garden esque) which is what I’ve been looking for. It’s not muddy at all. I could t be happier with it and will sell at least one of my other les Paul’s.

Purchased the 1958 Gibson Les Paul reissue VOS about a week ago and it is by far the best guitar I’ve ever played. It’s very difficult to purchase a guitar if this value online as sometimes you’re unsure of what you might get. There are so many variations in finish, top, wood colours, weight etc. however, guitarguitar make this a much easier process by picturing and weight every guitar which enabled me to study around 60 different ‘58’s they have in stock and pick the one I wanted. I based my choice on 3 things. Fretboard colour, top wood grain and weight. This particular guitar is 8lbs 5oz which is exactly what I wanted. The rosewood fretboard is incredibly my dark and rich and the lemon burst plain top has just the right amount of character. It also has some sentimental value already as I got my dad to choose which one he would pick without telling him I was purchasing. His face when I opened the box was priceless. I have a couple of custom shop guitars from 2010 and 2012. What they are producing currently far exceeds anything they’ve produced ever. To top it all off the price was just too good to turn down. I couldn’t be happier and will enjoy this guitar for the rest of my life.

This is my dream guitar, I’ve had my eye on it for quite a while and so glad I finally went ahead and ordered one. I’m used to strats so it felt a bit alien at first, also the one that I went to test drive in store was incredibly badly set up, I was already having a bad day and had an autistic spaz out. I just took some time and made sure I’d be able to set the action to my liking and just went for it. No regrets. It’s also been officially approved by Mark Knopfler and if it’s good enough for him, it’s definitely good enough for me.

Lovely guitar; within 5 minutes of playing it (in the shop) felt like it had been mine for ages; particularly love the neck - chunkier on a '58 than a '59, and that suits me better; and also particularly love the look of it: very subtle figuring in the maple top (ie. not too plain and not 'over-figured') and a lovely, slightly darker than usual lemon-burst finish. All the above, together with the substantially reduced sale £price, made me go for it - and over a week on and after a lot more playing, I'm still very happy that I did.

I've never played a real 1958 Gibson Les Paul standard, but I can say this is a beautiful guitar. I don't want to change a thing about her. Guitarguitar is awesome as they give you lots of photos to view the guitar before purchase, and include the weight info and they had more of these Gibson Custom shops, than anyone else to choose from!

Beautiful guitar!

I had a fantastic experience purchasing my new guitar from GuitarGuitar in Birmingham. They’d put the guitar to one side for me the previous day as I was travelling from 50 miles away. It’s always worth it I I get fantastic customer service every visit. The guitar was one I’d had on my wish list & it didn’t disappoint. Brilliant!

I've always wanted a custom shop Les Paul so when these came up at such a good price I had to get one the neck feels great don't be put off with the chunky C description it's really nice to play the pickups sound great as well I would definitely recommend it everyone goes on about a 59 reissue but the 58 is a fantastic guitar
