What we say:

At A Glance

The Excess V2 from Old Blood Noise Endeavours builds on the success of their original Excess pedal - made even more excessive!

The Excess V2 continues Old Blood Noise's journey to explore some of the most insane sounds and tones from the 80s, and so it sports three modulation modes (delay, chorus and harmonised fifth) as well as a ripping distortion sound that can be placed in either series or parallel with the modulation, giving you a huge palette of tones from the one pedal.

Features We Love:

Modulation Modes

The Excess V2 features three modulation modes, Delay, Chorus and Fifth. The way you route and engage these effects really lets you explore some of the wild sounds this pedal is capable of. The Delay is short (up to 125ms) and focuses on slapback and doubling sounds. The chorus is a classic Chorus sound, adding modulation and warble to the delayed line to add that unmistakable shimmer and depth to your tone. The Fifth mode is a harmonised delay, harmonising the repeats up to a perfect fifth from your original note. The modulation section's three knobs control all the parameters of these effects; Modulation Time, Effect Volume and Effect Depth.

Distortion Mode

The Excess V2's Distortion circuit is a classic high gain distortion sound with tons of bite and snarl. The Distortion section is widely adjustable with the controls and makes a fantastic pairing with the Modulation circuits.

Routing

This is where the magic happens! How you route the Distortion and Modulation modes opens up completely different tonal possibilities to each other mode. You can run in series, either running Distortion first into Modulation to give you echoes and chorus on your distorted signal, or into Modulation first THEN Distortion, giving you some wild, harmonically rich and over the top effects as the added resonance of the chorus or delay gets driven crazy by the Distortion! The third option is running the modes in Parallel, allowing you to combine a clean, modulated signal with an unmodulated distortion tone. The result gives you crisp echoes and harmonies over your downright dirty distorted tone.

Expression Pedal Compatibility

The Excess V2 even has an Expression Pedal jack to give you external control over the Rate and Depth knobs in real time, letting you coax even more wild, on the fly sounds out of this already Excessive unit!
