What we say:

At A Glance

The Line 6 Catalyst 100 Combo Modelling Amp is the amp that can do it all. Recording? Home practice? Live use? Yes to all! If you are already a fan of the Line 6 HX range then this is the combo you've been waiting for. If you aren't yet familiar with their game-changing tone possibilities then this combo is a great place to start.

With its dual-channel setup, it gives a traditional feel and will please those who prefer to spend their time playing rather than scrolling through menus. Fear not though; the free app provides deep dive editing for those after full control. It is packed with features for the modern guitarist, meaning it can be integrated into your existing setup or be used as a stand-alone amp.

Features We Love:

HX Sound Design

Line 6 changed the game with their HX family of products. Those same high-quality sound design techniques have been used in the Catalyst across a range of 6 new and original amp designs. From beautiful clean tones to highly-saturated distortion, the feel, sound, and response of these amp designs is nothing short of phenomenal.

Catalyst Edit App

The Catalyst already comes loaded with excellent sounds straight out of the box, with the amp models mentioned above, plus an impressive selection of 6 reverbs and 18 additional effects. If you want to build on this and dig into the almost endless possibilities, the Catalyst Edit app can be used via desktop or mobile to achieve the exact sound you have in your head.

Stage and Studio Worthy

These days, most guitarists need an amp to do a bit of everything, from live performance to home/studio recording. Laying down some ideas or tracks for your new album couldn't be easier thanks to the XLR line output and a 4-channel USB recording interface that delivers a truly professional level of quality. There is also a Power Attenuator, making it just as suitable for environments when you can't crank up the volume but still want to keep that sweet tone. The Catalyst could easily be the one amp you use for every scenario.

Who Is It For?

This would be well suited to almost any guitarist in search of an excellent tonal selection to work in every scenario needed. The low power setting makes it an excellent practice amp but it will also do justice to your songs in a live setting when used on full power. The dual-channel combo design makes it a great halfway point between a traditional amp and a contemporary powerhouse.

Highlights:

  • HX sound design delivers excellent sound and feel
  • Incredibly easy to use and navigate
  • Sounds just as good from the speaker as it does from the XLR line output
  • Dedicated Boost pushes the amp in a very valve-like way

Customer reviews

Overall Rating 5/5 (4 reviews)

Great sounding and plenty load enough for band practise. Tones are easy to get and tweak from the amp itself but editor feature is there if you like to deep dive. Can't really comment about quality yet as I've only had it a week but seems robust enough. Has corner protectors on every corner and doesn't feel flimsy.
