If you’ve been searching for a truly versatile acoustic guitar—one built to grow with you and stand as a lifelong musical companion—your search ends here. The Country Western 60s is handcrafted in Bozeman, Montana, and pairs its exceptional unplugged voice with Gibson’s new, exclusive, custom-voiced Baggs™ HiFi DNA™ pickup system. HiFi DNA delivers remarkable realism when amplified, faithfully conveying your guitar’s individual character and every subtle detail of your playing to your audience like never before.
Players have asked for this model by name, and Gibson is proud to respond. The Gibson Country Western 60s Original revives the most celebrated iteration of this iconic design. Built with a mahogany back and sides and a Sitka spruce top, it produces a rich, lively voice with outstanding balance across bass, midrange, and treble. This classic tonewood combination makes the Country Western 60s Original exceptionally adaptable—equally at home with country rhythm work, rock ’n’ roll single-note leads, and intricate fingerstyle playing.
Its 24.75” scale mahogany neck features a comfortable Round profile designed to suit a wide range of players. The neck joins the body with a compound dovetail joint using hot hide glue, promoting excellent resonance and tonal transfer. A rosewood fretboard with a 12” radius offers a smooth playing experience, ideal for both expressive bends and effortless chording. It is equipped with 20 standard frets and accented with mother-of-pearl split parallelogram inlays.
At the headstock, smooth and dependable sealed-back Gotoh® tuning machines with white buttons provide precise tuning stability. A bone nut and mother-of-pearl Gibson logo and crown complete the look. At the opposite end, the strings pass over a bone saddle and anchor into a rosewood belly-up bridge fitted with TUSQ® bridge pins. A tortoiseshell-colored pickguard without graphics adds a clean, classic visual touch.
Inside, Gibson’s exclusive Baggs™ HiFi DNA™ system captures the instrument’s voice with remarkable accuracy. This minimally invasive design uses two lightweight, flexible sensors mounted to the bridge plate, each with its own preamp and EQ to minimize interference and inductance issues. Blended into a mono signal, the system delivers a natural amplified sound with full dynamic range, faithfully representing the warmth, response, and personality Gibson acoustics are known for, while offering comparable gain-before-feedback to an under-saddle pickup. Discreet volume and tone controls mounted at the soundhole remain easily accessible during performance while staying nearly invisible to your audience.
Handcrafted by Gibson’s skilled luthiers at the Acoustic Craftory in Bozeman, Montana, the Country Western 60s Original is designed to perform wherever you play—from your living room to the largest stages. It ships in a Gibson hardshell case for secure storage and transport, ready to provide years of reliable performance and inspiration.
