While Gretsch have a very long history, the era of most interest to guitarists will be from the Atomic age to the present day. In the 1950s and 60s many popular models such as the White Flacon, the Country Gentleman, Nashville and Duo Jet were designed and launched by Gretsch 'ideas man' Jimmie Webster. These guitars were adopted by early rock n roll heroes like Chet Atkins, Eddie Cochran and Duane Eddy, cementing their legacy in popular music - a legacy that continues with those models remaining in production today! An avid Gretsch player, George Harrison of the Beatles helped to skyrocket their popularity in the 60's.

This item was appraised as follows:
Body: 3 out of 5 - Instrument has been used and shows evidence of its life in the forms of checking, chips and other superficial wear and tear. Metal parts and hardware may be mildly tarnished or stained and cosmetically imperfect.
Neck: 3 out of 5 - The frets have mild wear and/or pitting and may require profiling or replacement in future if the guitar is played extensively, although this work is not required immediately and the guitar plays and frets cleanly at present.
Additional Information: Guitar is presented in very good cosmetic condition for it's age, and colour has faded to a lovely lighter orange sunburst. Original pickup and electronics, bridge, tailpiece and frets (which are showing their age, in fair condition with a reasonable amount of life still left in them). Binding is in good condition throughout, and shows no signs of rot which can be present on Gretsches of this age.
This guitar has been restrung with Dunlop Strings
