DiMarzio

DiMarzio was founded in 1972 by Larry DiMarzio with the release of the Super Distortion pickup, designed to give guitarists distorted tones without having to rely on pedals. DiMarzio pickups were a massive success and DiMarzio has continued to move from strength to strength.

The original Super Distortion used thinner wire on the coils to allow for more turns, and a brighter sounding ceramic magnet. The result was a loud, higher output pickup that could be dropped straight into a Gibson Les Paul or any other standard full size humbucker route or fitting.

In 1982 DiMarzio released another revolutionary product, the ClipLock guitar straps. This simple locking system combined a strap with a heavy duty plastic quick release system, adding extra security for on stage players who want the peace of mind that their guitar isn't going to fall off its strap any time soon.

DiMarzio now offers over 200 models of pickups with a wide range of applications. They are most well known for their powerful sound and high output but offer many options including P90s, single coils, and mini humbuckers. They have continued to innovate with technology like the "Airbucker" which provide high output without undue magnetic pull on the strings, this technology can be found in pickups like the Air Classic.
