What we say:
It's normally RG models we see given the Iron Label treatment so it's good to see an S style included. Iron Label as a concept is all about stripping back the instrument to forge a monster built entirely for metal. In Ibanez land this seems to mean no whammy bars so this, accordingly, is a hard tail with a pair of Quantum humbuckers and, interestingly, a 5 way switch for more pickup options than you generally get with a two pickup guitar.
A Flame Maple top on a Meranti body adds significantly to the visual appeal of this S series, especially in it's 'Dragon's Eye Burst' finish! Ibanez get lots of points here because most other companies would just call this 'Brown Sunburst'. We appreciate Ibanez's commitment to all things Metal!
This guitar is marketed as a Metal axe but we think it'll find a good home in many other areas including rock, fusion, prog and so on. It's simply a good guitar with an eye-catching look and a very reasonable price tag.
