I was hesitant to buy these as I had a pair of HS7's and unfortunately one of the HS7's popped and stopped working but I believe this to be of my own doing. Which led me to buying the HS8's. So far all I can say is there is a huge difference to me in the HS8's. The clarity seems better and translation seems to be better for my environment. Listening back to older tracks I find the HS8's give better clarity in the bass and this is where my songs were lacking in translation before on the HS7's. Listening to commercial tracks some may say the bass is a little over the top but I would admit that my speakers are currently a little too close to my wall and this is a good point of learning your gear. Being a bass heavy track lover I am not too bothered and I would rather have too much and no how to compensate than not being able to hear correctly at all like on the HS7's. There is a considerable size difference in the HS8's so I would take this into consideration if you have a smaller desk. Buying white made no difference to sound but my days they look damn good. For anyone looking at the two I would recommend the HS8's over the HS7's as I would say you get more performance for your buck.
