The Yamaha TRB-JP II John Patitucci 6-String finished in Translucent Dark Red is one of the coolest six-string basses we've seen. Jazz virtuoso John Patitucci required a little more than your standard bass to fulfil his musical vision, so working closely with Yamaha the TRB-JP II was born! This stunning bass features an alder/ash/maple body with deep cutaways for high fret access, custom pickups with an active EQ circuit, 26 frets and a 35" scale length. We've genuinely never seen anything like this before, but we like it!
Body
The 4-Ply laminated body uses maple, ash and alder layered to create a tight, rich and resonant tone. The body features deep contours on the horns for easy high fret access and Yamaha' signature slap cut for additional comfort when using slap techniques.
Neck
The 3-Piece maple neck features a long scale for increased string tension and is fitted with double truss rods to accurately counter tension the guitar's six strings. The ebony fretboard features 26 medium frets for maximum expressive potential.
Pickups and Electronics
The pair of custom Alnico V double coil pickups have been designed to give a very clear signal with low noise and an accurate capture of sound, including when playing chords. The pickups feed into an active circuit with preamp and 3 band EQ. The result is a system that captures the guitar's natural variety of tones and allows you to tailor them to your preference with precision.
