What we say:

At A Glance:

This Yamaha BB435BL 5 String bass in Black is part of Yamaha's iconic BB line. The BB bass was first unveiled as an affordable alternative to American made guitars, without any signs of compromise to tone or quality. This no-nonsense approach saw Billy Sheehan and Peter Hook as early adopters of the BB, both legendary bass players with contrasting styles, which is a testament to the BB's versatility.

This new BB features a tasteful retro aesthetic and combines an alder body, maple neck and a J-bass pickup configuration to offer a versatile selection of usable tones, making it a great choice for everything from Jazz to Metal.

Features We Love:

Alder Body

Alder is loved for its lightweight and bright sound. This works especially well for larger bass guitar bodies as it gives them a detailed tone with a tight low end and great note definition without the guitar feeling too cumbersome during long playing sessions.

Single Coil Pickups

The ceramic J-Bass inspired single-coil pickup configuration is a timeless classic. With the placement of neck split-pickup capturing the fat low end without sounding woolly and the bridge pickup capturing the high-end definition, it's easy to blend between the two to dial in the exact sound you're looking for.

Six-Bolt Miter Neck Joint

Yamaha's six-bolt mitre joint gives the neck the strongest possible connection to the body of the guitar. With 4 standard screws to join the neck to the body and 2 additional screws set at an angle to anchor the neck in, the joint is not only incredibly secure, but it also drives the vibrations from the neck to the body and vice versa to create incredible tone and sustain.

Highlights:

  • Cool vintage looks
  • Great tones suitable for a wide range of styles

Customer reviews

Overall Rating 5/5 (1 reviews)

After initially trying the BB235, I have wanted to try the BB435 for some time now. Even after initial unboxing I was not disappointed, this instrument is dripping with the quality offerings we've come to expect of Yamaha. Only a very slight action adjustment was needed, truss rod was as straight as an arrow and intonation was spot on. The pickups sound fantastic, the B string might just be one of the best I've played so far, the bass plays beautifully and every part of the hardware feels great quality, built to last. I would happily put this bass up against some far more expensive offerings I've tried from other companies and expect this bass to come out as equal, and even better than some. The only thing I wish they would do is to include a small tool set incase anything does need adjusted, but luckily here that was not the case and I have all the tools needed to do so myself anyway. Brilliant instrument otherwise, 10/10 and I would feel happy sticking with Yamaha in the future. You can't go wrong with them, whatever your taste these guys have got you covered!
