Schecter's PT, originally designed for a certain 'Who' guitarist who wanted a modern, upgraded T-style guitar, has been given the Special treatment for 2018!
Special, in this instance, refers to the pickup layout and some tasteful binding, keeping this guitar within the pleasant confines of 60s T-style vibe but allowing it its own character at the same time.
Modernity meets tradition here. The stylings - ashtray bridge plate with three brass saddles, Vintage Grover tuners and dot inlays - all keep things traditional whilst the 12” radius fingerboard, Swamp Ash body and extra jumbo frets belie the decisions of a more modern taste. This is sensible and tasteful: go modern where it’s useful to the player but otherwise keep a preferably vintage eye on the design features. Schecter are masters at this!
One bridge position single coil (a T-style Schecter VT-1 pickup) and one neck position P90, or V-90 as Schecter call it, cover lots of ground sonically without going over into stupefyingly heavy metal. All heritage genres and mainstream types of sounds will be more than well served here, all wrapped up in a classy package that makes the most of it’s cream binding by finishing the guitar in 3-Tone Sunburst Pearl. It’s a great contrast and a good look for a lovely guitar.
