What we say:

Fender’s Hot Rod Deluxe combo is a more than familiar sight for gigging guitar players across the world. For years and years it has been the smart buy for anyone needing great sounding, portable valve tone with a touch of authenticity and pedigree.

With 40 watts of power and a single 12" Celestion A-type speaker, you should be able to take care of business no matter what genre you're chasing, apart from perhaps the heaviest flavours of modern metal.

This loud combo is famously friendly to pedalboards and makes a perfect base for your tone with enough clean headroom to satisfy the requirements of most small and even medium sized gigs without having to be driven into overdrive to get the volume.

Talking of overdrive, this fourth iteration of the Hot Rod Deluxe has a much improved drive channel. This was something of a weak point in previous versions and Fender have listened! The Drive channel here has body and texture, while the ‘More Drive’ footswitchable option brings more saturation to really lay on the retro scuzz!

An expansive spring reverb is available across both channels for that extra dimension to the classic Fender cleans coming out the amp.

Nice details like the Ivory coloured chickenhead knobs and the aged silver speaker grille make this amp an attractive and worthwhile option for so many players: it is the right size, right power, and right price. Deal!

I?ve had a lot of amps, most recently a Victory V40 but the Hot Rod Deluxe is the best of the lot. A workhorse amp but doesn?t mean it isn?t capable of boutique tones.
