I bought this guitar as a knockabout guitar, rather than plan to use it live or at the studio, and for the P90 sound missing from my current crop of guitars, but in all fairness, it would be good enough to use live if need be. I did change the tuners to Gibson deluxe Kluson type because I had a spare set in the can, and I didn't particularly like the small button type tuners this guitar came with, so they were not on this guitar long enough for me to comment on their reliability. Anyway, fit and finish of the guitar is very good. I did perform a setup, string action came down a bit and mine needed a 1/4 turn of the rod, after which I had a very playable guitar without no rattles or buzzes on the frets. Talking of which, frets are finished very well, and the nut slots are cut perfectly. The fretboard looked a bit dry, some conditioner sorted that out. With these changes I wondered if the intonation would drift being a wraparound lighting bridge, but can state here it didn’t budge. Playability is very good, but be warned the neck is on the chunky side so if your used to slim taper necks give this a try before you buy. This is not a shred machine! The neck is not a million miles away from the one on my Gibson 339 and I personally don’t have a preference for neck profiles, its also very different from my SG Supreme. Control wise the volume and tone knobs are functional, not quite the quality feel that a Gibson has but they get the job done. The taper on the volumes and tones is even throughout so no unpleasant surprises there. The pickup selector feels like a quality switch, with a reassuring positive click. It’s very tidy in the electronics bay as well, CTS pots and everything neat and well put together. The input jack also feels good quality, your cable wont be falling out of this anytime soon. The guitar is quite light, none of the heft of a LP Standard, there is no neck dive or roll, it’s a very simple no nonsense guitar. The P90 sounds are excellent. Played it through a variety of tube and SS amps and the pickups have a really nice almost punk attitude to them. Pulling off the gain and everything cleans up nicely with the neck pickup delivering a nice mid-range and fullness of sound, whilst retaining the highs and clarity. It’s certainly a versatile guitar in terms of sound and range so its worth exploring different settings. The guitar arrived in perfect condition; it was hard if not impossible to find a fault with it. Nothing loose, the paint job very tidy without any overruns, and the bound neck is faultless. No tooling marks to be seen anywhere, so QC at Epiphone has obviously been stepped up as previous experience from about 10 years ago with Epiphone was a bit hit and miss. In summary…well for £379 this thing is a steal. After about a month of ownership it has held tune brilliantly well (See previous note on tuners) it plays nicely, has a good range of sounds and to be fair yes I would use this in a live set for certain songs. Of course, it is a bit of a bare bones guitar, but this is also its appeal. All in all its an 8/10

my son really likes this guitar, the only issue is there is a little fretbuzz on the E string. other than that no issues .

Great guitar, especially for the money. Vintage chunky neck but soon got used to that. P90 pick ups sound amazing.

Super Guitar if you want that P90 bridge sound its right there. Raunchy . Also has sweet spots when you play around with the tone controls. All high end electronics and at the minute i can't see me wanting to change anything. Good to see Epiphone getting up there with quality guitars. Love the change of head stock to the original shape,and true to the 50s it has a handful of a neck, i got use to it but it may not suit everyone. This guitar is another avenue as far as sound if you want to try something different you can find it with this one or the Gibson version i'm sure if you've got the money.

Epiphone have really raised their game with these Inspired by Gibson guitars. Smooth Alpha Pots, Graphtech smooth nut and great tuners. You can feel the difference. Pickups sound great, no need for upgrade. Good fretting-often a weak point with cheaper Chinese instruments. Not here. No high frets and smooth edges. The final reason I bought it was a great 50's neck profile-very hard to get at this price point. Fills the hand, but not a baseball bat impressive. Weight is good as well. Have tried the actual Epiphone Les Paul's-but weight was back breaking.

Couldnt ask for better service

This guitar is well worth the money I paid and then some! It arrived well packaged, set up and ready to go. The neck is chunky but not overly so and the frets well finished off. There are a few minor imperfections in the polyurethane finish but only if you hold the guitar up to the light and hold it at the right angle. The colour is also not quite TV Yellow with a hint of mustard thrown in. Its not a shred machine and wouldn't claim to be. However, it feels and sounds great and if you play blues licks and riffs then this is perfect for you. It also sounds great acoustically and is the most resonant of all the guitars I own. In short, its a definite keeper!

Excellent wee guitar. Read a review about this back in February but have had difficulty getting a hold of this guitar. It is excellent value for money and the quality is very high for the price. I love P90s and for some time have been keen to get hold of a solid body. I was toying with the idea of a Gibson but at £1k less, it was too much of an opportunity to pass up. The only problem I find is a very tight jack socket, but assume that in time this will ease off. The neck is quite thick compared to my other guitars. I have a Gibson Les Paul Trad 2016 and comparing it to this, it is certainly thicker. However, just a matter of getting used to. Nice crunch from the bridge pick-up and with a little mixing of the amp and taking the edge of the guitar volume, you can get a great bluesy tone too. All in, I am very happy with the guitar at £350, it is worth every penny. Oh, and the reduced size headstock is a real bonus!

Great guitar needs a little set-up but nothing serious. Looks and feels like a more expensive guitar. Fun to play.
