What we say:
At A Glance:
This beautiful Eric Johnson 1954 Virginia Strat has been crafted as part of the Fender Stories Collection as a detailed recreation of the beloved guitar virtuoso's Stratocaster that he has played throughout his career. The guitar features the same spec as the 1954 Strat used for his iconic Tones and Ah Via Musicom albums. This is far from your typical strat, key ingredients of its unique character include the sassafrass body, the Soft V neck profile, the DiMarzio HS-2 (with only the top coil wired to be active) in the bridge position and Original '57/'62 single-coils in the middle and neck positions.
Features We Love:
Fender Stories Collection
Fender have created the Stories Collection to pay tribute to legendary musicians, their extraordinary contribution to music and their beloved modified Fender guitars which have joined them throughout their journey.
This rare choice of rift/quartersawn sassafras is a big part of the beauty behind this guitar's tone. With a slightly scooped character, tight low end and pronounced higher frequencies, it gives every note that exquisite richness that Eric Johnson is loved for.
The HS series was the first humbucking Strat pickups made by DiMarzio in the early '80s, Eric had his HS-2 wired with only the top coil active to give a great vintage strat tone that benefits from the humbucker's reduced hum and noise.
