What we say:

At A Glance:

The Tone King Royalist Mk III 40w 1x12 Combo Valve Amp packs a ton of iconic sounds into a fantastic package. The Royalist Mk III is a 40-watt, two channel, all tube powerhouse. It's rigged with a single custom Celestion "1660" 12" speaker and sporting 3-way voicing circuits on each channel to emulate some of the classic amp sounds from the heyday of British amp manufacturing. From balanced, low gain JTM45 sounds, to the iconic Plexi tone, to a full raging Super Lead tone, the Royalist Mk III can do it all.

40 watts can be a bit much for some gigs though, and that's where each channel's independent Iron Man II attenuator comes in. This runs a tuned reactive load on each channel independently, ensuring you can still make full use of that cranked all-valve sound, even at small-venue friendly volumes.

Features We Love:

Iconic Amp Voicings

The 2 channels on the Royalist Mk III feature independent voicing switches to let you choose between 1964, 1967 and 1970 amp models, based on iconic tones from the heyday of British amp manufacturing. 1964 features balanced treble, lower gain and less aggression like a vintage JTM45. 1967 gives you the crisp treble response and aggressive attack of a vintage Plexi. Meanwhile, 1970 delivers the high gain, raging Super Lead sound of a truly cranked British valve amp.

Integrated Attenuation

Volume can always be a problem on an amp this mighty, but with its fantastic sounds you'll still want to take it along to every gig you can. With an integrated Ironman II attenuator for each amp channel, you can do just that! Tone King's Ironman II attenuator has received high praise for its natural sounding volume attenuation, using transformers instead of resistors to let you cut your volume right down while still sounding natural. So feel free to crank that volume knob!

All Tube Signal Path

Even with its outstanding versatility and accurate voicings, don't be misled into thinking this is any kind of modelling amp. with 3x 12AX7A preamp tubes, 2x EL34 power tubes and a 5AR4 rectifier tube, this is an all-valve amp boasting all-valve amp tone.

Highlights:

  • Modelled after iconic British tones
  • All valve tone, no emulation
  • Custom Celestion "1660" 12" speaker
  • 2 channel with independent voicing for each
  • Built-in attenuator for each channel
