The Badlander 50 is a major new addition to Mesa Boogie's iconic Rectifier family. Maintaining the legendary voice, build quality and performance that all Rectos are renowned for - the Badlander sets a new standard with its modern tweaks and impressive feature-set.

Boasting EL34 power tubes that yield a more aggressive tone with enhanced harmonic content, other key specs include 2 identical channels with 3 versatile modes, built-in CabClone technology and a tube-driven FX loop. The Mesa Boogie Badlander 50 is a classic Rectifier at heart, but with a different tonal flavour that can cover everything from old-school rock through to detuned "Djent" metal!

EL34 Power Section

Mesa Boogie Rectifier amps are synonymous with the "American" sound; producing a massive, sizzling high-gain distortion which can be largely attributed to their 6L6 power tubes. While this is a desirable tone, many Mesa users have replaced these valves with EL34s in order to achieve a tighter and more percussive sound suitable for contemporary metal styles.

That's why Mesa Boogie have fitted their Badlander 50 with two EL34 power tubes as standard. Delivering a more focused bass response with faster note-tracking, these valves also produce a punchier mid-range character that's far more controllable - meaning that you can sweep from ultra-heavy scooped tones all the way through to barking British-style timbres. EL34s also help to sweeten the highs and reduce that fatiguing "fizz" associated with older Rectifiers.

2 Channels, 3 Modes

The Mesa Boogie Badlander 50 is easy to dial-in with its two completely identical channels, each featuring 3 modes: Clean, Crunch and Crush. This incredibly flexible formula allows you to set the amp up however you like, with the included footswitch letting you flick between each channel on-the-fly. And of course, the Badlander works perfectly with pedals thanks to its buffered, tube-driven effects loop.

Wattage Selector & Built-In Variac

If the full 50-watts offered by the Badlander is too much for the home, you can use its ergonomic global wattage selector to drop the output down to just 20-watts. Not only is this a great feature, but the built-in Variac also gives you the ability to choose full headroom for a modern feel, or reduce the internal voltage for an authentic "brown" tone!

CabClone Technology

Mesa's groundbreaking CabClone devices are becoming a standard across the industry, which is why their latest incarnation of the Rectifier comes equipped with this ingenious cabinet simulator and reactive load technology. Letting you use the amplifier without a connected cab, you can simply make use of the Badlander's balanced XLR output to send your signal straight to a front-of-house PA system with a convincing "mic'd up" cabinet tone. This functionality is ideal for the studio too, as it enables you to record directly into an audio interface or mixing desk.

With 8 selectable and editable impulse responses per channel, you can set up a different simulated cab sound for each one. So if you want a compressed 1x12" for your clean tone and a high-headroom 4x12" for your distorted channel - the choice is all yours! Silent practice is also possible with the Mesa Boogie Badlander 50, thanks to its dedicated headphone output.
