The Gibson SG Standard is possibly the most iconic and enduring example of ROCK in electric guitar history. If you love rock music then you love Angus Young, you love Tony Iommi and by proxy, you love the Gibson SG.

Originally meant as a successor to the Les Paul, the SG has always been its own proposition. Despite sharing relatively similar features like necks and pickups, the thinner body and redesigned neck joint (the neck joins the body at the 20th fret with the scooped out horns providing easy access compared with the Les Paul's 17th fret join with the upper bout inhibiting upper fret excursions) lend the SG an altogether meaner sound. In effect, clean sounds are more chimey and slinky whereas distortions are rich and sustaining with a little more cut and less body than a Les Paul.

Condition Report

At guitarguitar, we award our used gear a grade from 1-5 according to its overall condition, with 5 being the best.

This item was appraised as follows:

Body: 3 out of 5 - Instrument has been used and shows evidence of its life in the forms of checking, chips and other superficial wear and tear. Metal parts and hardware may be mildly tarnished or stained and cosmetically imperfect.

Neck: 4 out of 5 - The frets are in good order and the instrument plays cleanly and intonates accurately across the fingerboard.

Additional Information: This guitar comes to us in good condition considering its age. There are some marks and dings the body, most notably on/near the lower rim, as well as some wear to the edge of the headstock near the nut. Other than that, the fretboard and frets itself are in good order and all electronics function as they should.

This guitar has been restrung with D'Addario strings.

Accessories Included with this item are as follows: Hard Case
