About Grand Auditorium Guitars
Grand Auditorium guitars are the most modern of the five main guitar sizes, only dating back to 1994 when Taylor Guitars introduced the style. Since then it has quickly become one of the most popular styles because it is an elegant halfway house between the dreadnought and orchestra model sizes
Although the depth and lower bout are the same as you’d find on a dreadnought, the narrowest part of the guitar - known as the ‘waist’ - pinches in more, meaning that grand auditoriums have the large, authoritative sound of a dreadnought but are significantly more comfortable to play sitting down.
The other added advantage of reducing the size of the top slightly is grand auditoriums are equally adept at handling both strumming and fingerpicking so, no matter how eclectic your playing is, you only need one guitar.
Why Should I Choose a Grand Auditorium Guitar?
- Equally suited to fingerpicking and strumming
- Comfortable when sitting
- Modern aesthetic
