About Fender American Original

The Fender American Original series takes over from the previous American Vintage Series. Bringing back replicas of famous Fenders from decades past, the American Original series celebrates the rich history and heritage of Fender. For example, the American Original 60s Stratocaster comes with Vintage 65 model pickups and a 60s C-shape neck with a round laminate Rosewood fingerboard. The guitar has a nitrocellulose lacquer finish which seals the deal with real authenticity. Both guitars and Fender basses are included in this series.

Frequently Asked Questions about Fender American Original

Question: What are the differences between the American Professional Series and the American Original series?
The Fender American Professional Series is an up-to-date rendering of Fender's iconic guitar and bass designs. They have modern electronics and pickups, revised hardware and a range of colours both classic and modern, all finished in tough polyurethane. The American Original Series celebrates iconic historical Fender guitars with retro styling, period correct hardware, traditional neck carves and vintage-specific colours, all finished in nitrocellulose lacquer. Both series' are incredible in their own way, and they are really quite different from one another!
Question: Which guitars and eras are covered by the American Original series?
The decades covered are the 50s, 60s and 70s. Models available vary from decade to decade. Here is the list in full: 1950s: Tele, Strat, Precision Bass 1960s: Tele, Strat, Jazzmaster, Jaguar, Precision Bass, Jazz Bass 1970s: Jazz Bass
Question: What type of finishing is used on the Fender American Original series?
The American Original Series guitars and basses are all finished with nitrocellulose lacquer, a vintage-correct substance that leaves a very particular and attractive finish, feel and fragrance. Nitro finishes, as they are known, are generally only available on more high end guitars as it is an expensive process to carry out. Nitro guitars are considered more 'vintage' in overall vibe than those with polyurethane finishes.
