ABOUT THE ROLE:
We are looking for an experienced, passionate and commercially driven Digital Music Department Manager to lead and grow our Digital division, spanning Pianos, Keys, Drums, PA, Recording and more. This is a senior role with real autonomy. You'll operate alongside the store management team as a key pillar of the store's leadership, taking full ownership of your department's performance, people and culture. DUTIES:
- Driving sales across the Digital department (Pianos, Keys, Drums, PA, Recording and beyond); offering feedback, managing targets, delivering briefings and appraisals and sharing best practice
- Training, coaching and developing department staff, building a team with deep product knowledge and genuine passion for the category
- Delivering against and responding to a set of KPIs, with a clear focus on driving 20% year on year growth across the Digital department to ensure its commercial success and smooth running
- Providing an outstanding customer experience for everyone who engages with the Digital department; ensuring every visitor is welcomed, engaged and qualified
- Maintaining and improving department standards, including presentation of products, demo areas and listening/playing stations
- Managing stock; using an intelligent and considered approach to maintain, question and develop the Digital stock profile in line with market trends and customer demand
- Continually seeking to improve working culture within the department by fostering improvement, recognising ability and putting the customer at the centre
- Managing the rota for the department team

- Cash Management and banking
- Working closely with and in parallel to the store management team on day-to-day issues affecting the wider business
- Liaising with key internal departments such as Purchasing, Marketing and Accounts, particularly around Digital category buying, promotions and product ranging
- Keyholder duties; being responsible for opening and closing of the store and acting as a point of contact for alarm companies and emergency services
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Be responsible for the day-to-day running of the Digital department, operating with autonomy while working alongside the store management team
- Lead, inspire and motivate the Digital sales team; helping and supporting them to achieve the department's goals
- Drive and maximise sales and customer experience across all Digital categories, both in store and online, with the ambition of achieving 20% year on year growth for the department
- Own the Digital stock inventory, ensuring the department is always stocked with exciting, relevant and desirable gear that reflects the breadth of the category
- Ensure guitarguitar's visual merchandising standards are maintained across the department and that stock is displayed in an appealing and commercially considered manner
- Champion the Digital category internally, acting as the key voice on product ranging, supplier relationships and market trends
- Complete department admin accurately, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures
KEY SKILLS:
- Demonstrable experience in a retail management or supervisory role, ideally within music, tech or specialist retail
- Strong working knowledge of Digital music products across some or all of the following: Pianos, Keyboards, Drums, PA, Recording and Music Production
- A genuine passion for music and the Digital category, with the ability to inspire that same enthusiasm in a team and in customers
- Proven track record of hitting and exceeding sales targets
- Strong people management skills; experience of coaching, developing and performance managing a team
- Commercially minded with the ability to read and respond to data, trends and KPIs
- Excellent communication skills; confident engaging with customers, team members and internal stakeholders alike
- Highly organised with the ability to manage competing priorities across sales, admin and people responsibilities
- A collaborative team player who can also operate independently and take ownership of their area
- Experience with stock management and merchandising is desirable
Reports to: Store Manager
Salary band: £33k- £40k OTE depending on experience
(includes KPI bonuses and EOT bonus after probation period)

As a key member of our Customer Experience Team, you’ll be the first point of contact for our customers, providing end-to-end support across their entire journey. You’ll play a vital role in delivering our industry-leading omni-channel experience, reflecting guitarguitar’s values and commitment to outstanding customer care in every interaction.
You will demonstrate a customer-first mentality across all communication channels, including phone, email, and live chat guiding other musicians of all levels to the right solutions for them by accurately identifying and providing tailored recommendations.
