What we say:

Slipknot’s Jim Root perhaps surprisingly uses a Strat to power his bludgeoningly heavy riffs and leads. Well, surprising until you take a closer look and realise that this is a Strat in shape only: with its flat radius Ebony fingerboard and pair of ferocious active EMG pickups, this matte finished utilitarian looking beast is designed for one thing and one thing only: gargantuan metal riffs.

Jim's guitar has a Mahogany body which is unusual for a Strat but excellent for thick, sustaining tones. As we mentioned, the neck has a lovely Ebony fingerboard with a 12-16" compound radius for a playing surface that has no compromises. Locking tuners are included too for rock solid tuning stability and quick string changes.

Those EMGs are the ultra popular 81 and 60 models, just the trick for crushing planets with your brutal tones.

Everything is black on this apart from the Maple neck. There are no fret markers. There is no Tone control knob. There is no tremolo arm. Simple and devastating, that's what the Jim Root Stratocaster is. We love it.

Slipknot fan or not, there's no denying the appeal of a matte black, sonically huge Strat. Try it! Masks are optional.

Perfect guitar as expected.

Great sounding guitar not only for metal

Rodrigo A. - 6/7/2022

Solidly built & exceedingly well finished. Locking tuners make string changes a breeze, restrung from 10s to 12s. Being a mahogany body, there?s a bit of gravity about it which you begin to notice after about 30mins or so. Pickups are great, though being used to playing S.D. Invaders I found them a little quiet. The low end has a defined growl but I felt they were a little lacking on the top end. That said I did buy it for a different tone so I?ll find a use for it. There is a 24V batt mod available which I may try. Hard tail & no tone control but that?s not an issue for me as this thing was designed for one thing only ??
