The UV70P Premium model 7 string is a very close reissue to one of the original Universe designs, the UV7, from back in 1990. The iconic black and bright green livery is present and correct and the hardware has been updated with a newer Edge tremolo unit and DiMarzio Blaze pickups. Even the dot fret markers are bright green!
Getting used to the extra string is actually relatively straight forward: it's just a matter of a few hours playing and readjusting chord positions. The Universe's neck is not massive despite the added Low B string so you'll still be able to play everything you already can; you'll just be able to play MORE.
Apart from the colour scheme, it may not be too obvious that this is actually a Steve Vai signature model. He has played a number of Universe models over the years and, together with the JEM series, has produced a number of iconic instruments. The Universe was the first ever mass production model 7-string and this Premium guitar is a fitting update and tribute to the original game-changing guitar.
