The battle for digital modelling supremacy just heated up! Neural DSP changed the game when they gave us the Quad Cortex a few years ago. They brought best-in-the-business sounds and next-gen capturing technology to the masses in a portable and powerful form. This proved to be a resounding success, becoming one of the most popular modellers in the world.
But that success brought a significant question: where to go next? The Quad Cortex already ticks so many boxes for the 21st century guitarist, so Neural’s answer to this happy dilemma was simple: go smaller!
I present to you today: the BRAND NEW Neural DSP Quad Cortex MINI!

Over 50% Smaller
Yes, the new Quad Cortex Mini is in fact over 50% smaller than the existing QC unit. And here’s the real story: it’s the FULL Quad Cortex experience inside! Nothing has been removed for space reasons! Can you believe that? This little box has the SAME processing power and the SAME sound quality as the regular Quad Cortex. It’s all there, only in a significantly smaller chassis.
Indeed, the whole unit is only 22.8cm long by 11.8cm wide, and weighs 1.5kg! I thought the original Quad Cortex was already nice and portable, but this thing is another level of convenience. It’ll fit in any standard guitar gig bag, and easily provide you with a whole boutique rig’s worth of top tone. Whether you use this as a fly rig for overseas gigs, or use it as the central nexus of your whole sound, you’ll be enjoying fully fledged Quad Cortex tone and features.

The Quad Cortex Mini: Same Power, Same Workflow
The new Quad Cortex Mini shares the same powerful processing power as the original unit, and has the same overall platform to work from. If you’re already familiar with the QC, then this will all be music to your ears: simply carry on with this as you had been before. If you’re new to Neural’s ways, then you’ll find a fast, intuitive, grid-based system that is easy to navigate and edit.
A 7” touchscreen is your main point of contact here, which allows you to not only see your entire rig at a glance, but jump into it and edit, change, rearrange and try out different blocks of effects. You can reroute your chain, split the path to and from the amp blocks, and generally operate the unit as you would with physical amps and pedals.
You’ll have over 90 amp models to use, over a hundred effects and over a thousand cabinet impulse responses to build into your sound. The same as with the original Quad Cortex, in other words. Impressive!

Neural Capture
Yes, Neural’s famed Capture technology is included inside the Quad Cortex Mini! Connect any ‘real life’ physical amplifier, cabinet or pedal and create an incredibly accurate digital replica. Store it in your QC Mini and use it whenever you wish! Build a unique and personal collection of your favourite amps and pedals, perfectly accurate and ready to be used at any time!

Full Functionality
Despite its smaller size - significantly smaller size, I should say -the Quad Cortex Mini impresses with its inputs and outputs. Here’s what you’ll find on the sides of the unit:
- Combination input (¼” jack and XLR combined) with phantom power.
- Stereo XLR outputs
- Stereo ¼” jack outputs
- USB-C
- FX send & return
- MIDI in, out and thru
- Capture output
- Expression pedal input
- Headphone out
- Power Supply input (P/S unit included)
No Creative Limits
The Quad Cortex Mini has the same power, the same processing, the same approach to building sounds, the same sounds and the same potential for making your own sounds as the original Quad Cortex unit. You can take this unit absolutely anywhere and use thousands of sounds that are indistinguishable from the ‘real thing’. You can edit them, share them, perform with them and record with them.
There are no limits to how creative you can be with this unit. You need a simple rig? This can be a simple rig. You need a vast, complex setup? This can be a vast, complex setup. The only two things the Quad Cortex Mini will never be is big, or a hassle. Everything else is covered for all guitarists and bassists.
Surely now is the time to see if you’re a Quad Cortex person after all?
