What we say:
Seymour Duncan are perhaps the most famous brand of guitar pickups in the world. Since the 70s, Seymour and his team have hand built an ever-increasing range of premium pickups for electric guitar, bass and acoustic instruments.
Seymour Duncan use the best copper wire and magnets to create their pickups. Models range from recreations of vintage classics to, more often, original design pickups that bring a whole new world of sound tho the musician. All styles are catered for, from 50s pop to traditional Jazz right through to the most aggressive modern metal.
Changing pickups in your guitar is the quickest and most cost effective way to alter or upgrade your sound. Seymour Duncan will almost certainly have a pickup that’s perfect for you with a level of quality that’s unmatched.
This is Seymour Duncan’s most popular pickup. No contest. Fat, sparkling sounds, high in output and full of harmonics, this pickup is pretty much everything you’d want in a bridge humbucker.
A little mystery revolves around what the ‘JB’ in the pickup’s title actually refers to. Officially, it’s explained as the ‘Jazz and Blues’ which is somewhat incongruous given the sonic nature of this high output pickup! The first ever ‘JB’ pickup was made for - and given to - Jeff Beck so we’ll just leave that there…
The JB is available in a variety of physical guises. It is available here as a black and cream 'zebra' open coil humbucker.
Sonically, this pickup is big, loud and proud, with lots of character and ‘grind’ to match the sweetness and body. Its a fantastic sound, one that really encourages chunky rhythm playing and extended lead playing.
The JB is versatile, considering it is frankly a high output pickup: we see Blues players and fans of vintage tone liking this pickup as much as Hair Metal and modern technical players!
If you feel like changing bridge pickups but are undecided as to what model, the Seymour Duncan JB proves to be the ‘right’ choice over and over again.
