Epiphone New Century Olympic Honey Burst (Ex-Demo) #17032302139

It's a beautiful guitar at a wonderful price. I first tried one years ago and I've had an eye on buying one since. The action is pretty low, so it plays quite like an electric, but it sounds good acoustically. Purists will say it's not as jazzy as the old original Epiphones but that's not what I'm after. I doubt I'll use the piezo much - and I'm of a mind to add a P90 dogear, with volume and tone knobs, to create my ES125 fantasy - but it's there if ever I fancy it. I can't believe I got the guitar at this price.

Well made guitar. Set up was good however there were a few high spots on the frets. A quick fret level, recrown and polish sorted this. The tuning machines on this guitar look good but do not work well or hold tune. The Shadow under saddle piezo transducer sounds okay but the volume and tone controls are temperamental. The tone wheel can cause everything to cut out. The volume works okay so far. Nice neck profile. Sound is plunky and vintage sounding. It’s usable. I fitted 13-56 flat wound strings which drive the top well when plucked or strummed hard but fingerpicked or strummed lightly the guitar is great for gentle sofa playing and still sounds clear with good response. Great price. Great value. Delivered fast and in perfect order. Not had an arch top before and very pleased with it. I like the fact that I get a different sound and play differently than all my other acoustic guitars. Sadly not as well as David Rawlings… but it does have that old sound that I was hoping for. I’m going to try some flat wound strings to enhance the retro warm and mellow tone.

As I play Folk, Jazz Standards and Country Music the tone and projection of an Arch Top fits perfectly My particular instrument is well made and finished and sounds great. It's relatively small and easy to handle and the appearance, Honey Burst is very attractive.

Can’t fault the guitar especially for the sound n offer price. A little nervous about trying to fit the scratch plate myself and the bridge needs a little adjustment just to help with intonation but nothing that would put me off buying an epiphone again as I now have a collection of 6

Brilliant guitar - wonderful to play - evocative looks and tone. Perfect for the retro Americana sound of my band Paper Cowboys. I've already started writing songs with it.

I really like it. I can understand that the tone wouldn't be everyone's cup of tea (i.e. not big and resonant like a dreadnought or something), and perhaps not quite what a classic archtop should be like, but I really like it. Probably something you'd want to try first for a half hour or two. Cutting and simple and more versatile a sound than I first thought though. Nice rootsy sound. And plugged in it is surprisingly good too - nice and jangly or nice and smooth depending on fiddling the knobs and playing position. More variety than my telecaster, actually, if you are careful, although it can feedback something incredible if you put it through a fuzz pedal... unsurprisingly. Looks lovely, and some might think the neck is quite big, but I am used to that and love it - I find it very fast actually. Tuners aren't the best at getting in tune, but it stays in tune well. To summarise: I love it, it's great fun to play, and I'm selling another guitar to pay for it, having bought it by accident.

A beautiful and sexy retro styled acoustic guitar from Epiphone. The weight and feel of this guitar is perfect, it is light and balanced but with a heavy sound. Inbuilt pickup and discreet volume and tone controls allow for plugging in if necessary, but this guitar sounds perfect for any living room or parlour. The honeyburst colour is attractive and authentic. F holes instead of a round soundhole make it even more streamlined and gorgeous.
