What we say:

At A Glance:

The Neural DSP Quad Cortex is a revolutionary new floor modeler with an unparalleled level of processing power. This makes it one of the most capable units available and gives guitarists the ability to create, capture, and replicate tones like never before.

Features We Love:

Market-Leading Performance

Due to the mind-blowing 2GHz of dedicated DSP (Digital Signal Processing), you can construct the kind of rigs most guitarists have only ever seen in their dreams. The Quad Cortex will handle it all with ease.

Let Your Imagination Run Wild

Run multiple amps with stacked effects to create completely unique tones and setups. The vast amount of combinations that can be produced is almost incalculable.

A New Standard For Tone Capture

Pioneering AI technology delivers a new standard of tone capture. Physical amps and cabs can be replicated in precise detail due to revolutionary algorithms that ultimately produce sounds closer to what our ears would hear from the original source.

Advanced Connectivity

A WiFi module in the unit that links to Neural CNS Mobile software allows for convenient sharing of presets as well as backups and firmware updates. A great solution for the musician on the go who requires new presets at a moment's notice.

One Product To Do It All

With an ever-expanding library of amps, effects and IRs, this could not only downsize and replace your existing rig, but will offer a huge tonal upgrade in the process. At under 2kg, it is extremely portable.

What’s new in CorOS 3.3.0

Neural Capture Version 2

Neural Capture Version 2 is an advanced evolution of Neural Capture, trained via Cortex Cloud for higher resolution and more detailed results. Instead of processing captures on Quad Cortex itself, V2 uses Cortex Control and Cortex Cloud to analyze your device with a more advanced algorithm.

Compared to V1, Neural Capture V2 offers greater dynamic accuracy and realism, especially with complex or highly touch-sensitive devices such as fuzzes, compressors, and responsive amplifiers. This makes it the most accurate solution on the market for capturing the dynamic cleanup behavior of a vintage fuzz, the natural bloom of a sagging power amp, and the fast transient response of a studio compressor. It also models controls like blend knobs with improved precision.

Because the training happens in the cloud, V2 requires an internet connection and takes slightly longer to complete than V1 due to the higher resolution.

To create a V2 Neural Capture, open Cortex Control, log in to your Neural DSP account, and select New Neural Capture. You can then choose between Neural Capture V1 and V2.

Cortex Cloud uses the metadata entered during the Capture process to improve processing accuracy, so it is important to enter the correct device type. The Neural Capture V2 block now includes new category options: Overdrive, Fuzz, and Compressor.

V1 and V2 each serve their purpose. V1 remains fast, efficient, and fully offline, ideal for most amplifiers, cabinets, and overdrives. V2 is designed for the most dynamic and expressive devices, delivering the highest level of detail and feel.

New Captures

To showcase the capabilities of Neural Capture V2, we have added a total of 669 Captures across 41 devices to the library. These demonstrate how V2 performs across different types of devices.

Wi-Fi Domain Settings

Select to which Cortex Cloud domain your device connects. If you experience issues, use this setting to ensure reliable Cloud connectivity based on your location.

Capture Library factory subfolders

Both Neural Capture V1 and V2 libraries have been reorganized into subfolders for easier navigation. Each device now has its own subfolder containing all associated Neural Captures.

Capture Library filter behavior

When browsing Factory Captures, active filters are temporarily disabled while navigating subfolders within Factory Captures V1 or Factory Captures V2. This prevents empty folders from being displayed. When browsing User folders, all active filters remain enabled as usual.

Auto-Set switch removal

The Auto-Set switch has been removed from both Neural Capture V1 and V2 workflows. Tooltips have been added to the IN 1 and IN 2 parameters in the Neural Capture calibration menu, providing guidance on how to configure optimal settings before starting the Capture process.

Device Storage menu

The Device Storage menu has been redesigned to provide a clear overview of all Presets, Neural Captures, and Impulse Responses stored on your device. Tapping any content category serves as a shortcut to its corresponding location in the Directory.

Customer reviews

Overall Rating 5/5 (18 reviews)

Having been a helix user for roughly 7 years, the Cortex has replaced it without a backwards glance.

James C. - 30/6/2025

Amazing price of gear, better than the other options imo. Guitar guitar were great, speedy delivery too

Mark C. - 20/4/2025

The quad cortex is the best pedal I’ve purchased in years, it’s amazing.

Philip W. - 18/4/2025

Fantastic unit. After years of lugging a 6505 and a pedal board up and down our stairs to gigs and practice sessions it’s just not feasible to do anymore. This little unit gets you 90% of the way there for raw sound particularly when paired up with the SD Powerstage power amp. All the built in effects you can dial in can easily match the Boss RV pedal I was using for leads. You can download presets that pros (or the other guitarist in your band) have set up for you using their cortex app, It’s just made my musical life so much easier, saved my back a ton of pain and meant that I don’t dread the load up or break down of gear after a gig. Love it.

Edwin H. - 19/2/2025

Great sounding tones Superb thanks ??

Akin K. - 31/8/2024

The quad cortex is extremely impressive. I had a line 6 helix for a few years and this is on another level (in my opinion). The flexibility, power and programmability is off the chart. I’ve downloaded a bunch of captures from the cortex cloud and I’m loving trying lots of different amps I wouldn’t normally have the chance to try out. The FX are also excellent. The whole unit is extremely intuitive and easy to program and not a great deal of menu diving, which is a massive plus for me.

Having and recorded, rehearsed and gigged with a Kemper, FM3 or standard amp setup, I think this is the one I will use the most. Between The QC and FM3 I wouldn’t say there’s a drastic difference in amp sounds but the ease of use and features are well worth it. FOH is great but I prefer using with a power amp and cab. I am a fractal fanboy nerd and love it for its differences in application but for the capabilities and size.. the QC could almost make the FM3 redundant for now. The effects are pretty damn good but granted the off the wall soundscapes aren’t the same. I’m a greedy selfish git and use the QC with an H90 in the effects loop. I haven’t fully explored the midi switching capabilities yet. As many reviews have said, the feel of the QC is natural but then all of the latest modellers I have experience with are fantastic and really not discernible from one of those heavy old tubey lumps we all love so much. To loosely paraphrase a gentleman who I shan’t name, “the amount of amps that these can be makes them the cheapest in the world.” Buy one and love it. Made from metal and tough as old boots.

I’d been researching a replacement for my large pedalboard I use for two very different bands, I wanted to downsize & not lose any tonal possibilities. The Neural DSP Quad Cortex is that solution. I still use a 4x12 on stage & will be retiring my JCM2000 for a solid state power amp because the amp emulation & capture is so convincing. Saving my poor back as the ultimate goal.

Mark S. - 17/12/2022

mark j. - 10/10/2022

The killer features - which make this imho the best modeller, is the amp capture facility. I have put my own Swart Mod 84 and Vox HW AC15 'in' to the Quad - and now have them in stereo with a minimum of effects. Very simple rig, but absolutely incredible nuance is there - and this is with my own amps - not someone else's model.... a big difference. I was a skeptic - I've used other high end modellers, but this is on another level simply because of the capture tech. The effects are good, but I don't use many except the new Plate reverb and compressor just on one amp. I use the second input, and a second signal chain for a Roland sound module which is controlled by a Fishman Triple Play on my guitar - so the Quad acts as a high end mixer for two totally separate signal chains - awesome. I feed a pair of Headrush FRFR monitors with my Left/Right outs. The interface is brilliant - drag and drop - easy. This unit is like having Real World Studios in a box, this is the future.
