The Gibson Les Paul Special was first introduced in 1955 as an upgraded version of the Les Paul Junior, a somewhat stripped-down yet high-quality solidbody electric guitar initially intended as a student model and first released the previous year, in 1954. Like those early Juniors, the Les Paul Special originally featured a slab, single-cutaway mahogany body. The Les Paul Special also added a second pickup, along with a pickup selector switch and binding for the fretboard.

Body: 3 out of 5 - Instrument has been used and shows evidence of its life in the forms of checking, chips and other superficial wear and tear. Metal parts and hardware may be mildly tarnished or stained and cosmetically imperfect.
Neck: 4 out of 5 - The frets are in good order and the instrument plays cleanly and intonates accurately across the fingerboard.
Additional Information: There is some checking to the back of headstock and near the nut.
This guitar has been restrung with Dunlop Strings
