About Gibson ES-335
The ES-335 is one of Gibson's most famous guitars. It is a semi-acoustic guitar with two hollow f-holed sides and a solid maple wood block centre. Introduced in 1958, the ES-335 has proven itself suitable for Pop, Rock, Blues, Jazz and a range of other genres. This makes it one of the most versatile guitar designs available. Gibson ES-335 guitars featured a maple neck in the '70s but has since featured a mahogany neck in more recent models.
The semi-hollow body nature of the ES-335 gives it a more open sound while the centre block is used to anchor the pickups and reduce feedback. The ES-335 typically has a pair a humbucker pickups, a tune-o-matic bridge and a 24.75" scale length, making it extremely easy to play. The large, double cutaway body makes it immediately recognisable.
The ES-335 can be seen in hands of players such as Chuck Berry, B.B. King and Alvin Lee. It can even be found in popular culture through Marty McFly! The classic look and sound make it a timeless model that will always be a popular choice.
